Host Program

With our host program, being a host gives you the opportunity to designate someone to stay as a student in another country for the same duration within three years after your hosting stay ends.

You can also do a room exchange, living abroad while offering your room to an international student. At best, exchange costs €0 per month, plus fees.

Why host a student?

Students are motivated, young, and eager to learn. Hosting a student means starting a personal relationship, sharing your culture, and enriching your home life. Students are low-maintenance, out most of the day, backed financially by parents, and reliable with payments. Otherwise, they risk penalties and losing hosting eligibility.

What are the students like?

Students are screened through psychometric tests, academic transcripts, criminal background checks, and personal interviews. They are respectful higher-education students eager to learn and experience new cultures, often picking up a new language. Above all, they are known for their respect for the host culture and are deeply grateful to families opening their homes. Relationships with host students frequently last long after graduation. All students are legal adults.

How can a student enrich your life?

• The student can keep seniors company, help with grocery shopping, play board games, or cook together.
• The student can play with kids and teach them a new language.
• The student must assist with household chores: cleaning, organizing, etc.
• The student agrees to assist with daily chores through a mutual private agreement. It is important to note that this agreement falls under family living and cultural exchange, so it does not constitute an employment contract or salary payment unless both parties voluntarily agree on extra terms.

What expenses are involved if I want to host a student?

Can you charge the student?

Yes, you can charge for utility expenses as a fixed monthly fee or proportional bills, plus room rent. In this case, we charge a 10% commission on utility expenses. Some families charge nothing because hosting costs are minimal. Everything is detailed in the agreement.

How are common areas like the bathroom or kitchen managed?

Before hosting begins, an agreement is drafted to manage cleaning, shared spaces, schedules, and the student's room.

What items does a student need?

Not much: At minimum, a closet, bed, desk, chair, and optionally Wi-Fi. Treat the student like a family member staying long-term.

What do we offer?

We screen students who fit your lifestyle and provide legal guarantees with a contract signed by both student and host covering rights and duties. If a student breaches rules or lease prohibitions, they must vacate the host home. To prevent issues, we offer mediation services to address grievances and reach mutual agreements.

Optionally, we request criminal background and solvency reports for students.

How will you charge the student?

For everyone's security, rental payments are paid monthly after each completed month. First payment is issued 30 days after hosting starts, protecting students by ensuring contract terms are met.

What is the difference between hosting a student and doing a room exchange?

Hosting a student is asynchronous: you host a student first, and once their studies finish, the hosted student must host another student.
Room exchange is synchronous: you offer your room to an international student at the same time you occupy another room abroad.
