The current housing crisis, marked by skyrocketing rent prices, hinders studying abroad. We offer the simplest, affordable, and effective way to study abroad: room exchange. It's a unique experience letting you live with a host family or shared student apartment with international peers.

How does it work?

For a set period, usually an academic year, you offer your room to an international student while enjoying a host room provided by a student in their city.

In ideal scenarios, if an Ottawa family sends their daughter to Berlin, and the Berlin host family sends their son to Ottawa while agreeing not to charge rent, students exchange rooms for €0/month, plus fees.

Exchanges can be 1-to-1 like the example above, or round-robin—such as a Shenzhen student spending 2026/2027 in Paris, while the Paris student moves to Chicago, and the Chicago student heads to Shenzhen.

Typically, exchanges happen between shared student apartments or student rooms in family homes. In host family setups, students are invited to participate in family activities as a household member. It's the most immersive way to learn a new language and culture.

Can you charge the student staying in your room?

Yes, you can charge for utility expenses as a fixed fee or proportional bills, plus room rent. In this case, we charge a 10% commission on utility expenses. Some families charge nothing because hosting costs equal what they'd spend on their child at home. Everything is specified in the lease.

What do you need to do to exchange a room?

Our room management fees consist of a single upfront payment, plus a 10% commission on expenses charged to the student. You'll undergo a short verification process to ensure living conditions meet our quality standards. Once verified, you can list your room. Everything is completed online. We respect your privacy and never sell your data.

What do we offer?

We screen students to fit your lifestyle and provide legal guarantees with a contract signed by student and host covering rights and duties. If a student violates lease terms, they must vacate the host home. To prevent issues, we offer our mediation mediation service to handle complaints and find fair compromises. We also monitor lease compliance on both ends.

Optionally, we request criminal background and solvency reports for students.

How do I start?
